Patricia Phelan

PHELAN, Sister Patricia Ann, RSCJ.

Long time spiritual director and educational therapist in the Bay Area, died January 18, 2012 at Oakwood, elder care center of the Religious of the Sacred Heart in Atherton.  Born April 6, 1940 in San Francisco to Walter J. Phelan and Alice F. Doran, Sister Phelan is survived by her brother, William of San Jose, her step-mother Margaret C. Phelan of San Mateo and numerous nephews and cousins. Sister Phelan received her BS from the College of Notre Dame, Belmont, CA, her MA in Special Education from San Jose State University and her certificate in Spiritual Direction from Mercy Center, Burlingame.  She was a member of the Association of Educational Therapists, the California Association of Neurologically Handicapped Children and Adults and the American Guild of Organists. Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 24 at Oakwood, 140 Valparaiso Ave., Atherton CA 94027, followed by burial in the Oakwood cemetery.
