Mary McLean

September 17, 1923 - January 20, 2012

Mary Pat MacWilliams McLean passed away January 20th in her Palo Alto home. She was born in Burlingame, attended Mercy High School, and graduated from Burlingame High in June 1941. Mary Pat then graduated from U.C. Berkeley in the wartime class of 1944, where she was a member of Prytanean     Honor Society and Chi Omega sorority. Upon graduation during WW II, and while her husband was still in the Air Force, she taught high school in Visalia. During the years that her children were in college, she was a substitute teacher in the Palo Alto School District. She was a longtime member of The League Of Women Voters, a volunteer with the student exchange program AFS, and she taught English in action partners through Stanford's International Center.

Mary Pat is survived by her husband Bob, her son Don of Oroville, her son Jim of Oakland, and her daughter Ann of Kirkland, WA.

A pending memorial service will be held at the Palo Alto Unitarian Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Elizabeth Gamble Garden in Palo Alto where she and her friends spent satisfying gardening hours.
