Foothill College’s beloved coach Douglas Boyett, 52, passed away January 28, 2012 in his home. He was a graduate of Palo Alto High, and CSU Chico. He earned his Master’s degree in physical education from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga.
During the 1978 and 79 seasons Doug played defensive back under head coach Jim Fairchild at Foothill College. He moved on to play at CSU Sonoma before graduating from CSU Chico.
Doug is survived by his wife, Lisa his eight siblings, his in-laws, his god-daughter, many nieces and nephews and his pets, Choco, Zimba and Zion.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM at Roller & Hapgood & Tinney Funeral Home, 980 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. A “Celebration of Life” will take place on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Foothill College Gymnasium, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. Lots 2 & 3 will be available for free parking. The family requests attendees to wear Hawaiian and or Football attire as a tribute to Coach Boyett.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Doug Boyett Memorial fund to benefit Foothill Football student athletes through the Foothill-De Anza Foundation at 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hill, CA 94022 or online at [email protected] or to the National Downs Syndrome Society, Autism Speaks or the Humane Society in Doug’s name.
